A sesame recipe to 'eat up vegetables without wasting them,' co-created by members of Kadoya's community 'Sesame Labo' and vegetable chef Mao Nishioka, was showcased at a sustainability event.

Kadoya Sesame Mills IncorporatedSesame Labo, a community website of Kadoya, Inc. held a "SDGs Week" Sustainability Event with Mao Nishioka, a vegetable chef, and Kadoya employees to discuss what we can do through sesame.

The event was held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 during SDG week at "goma to", a café & izakaya operated by Kadoya Seiyu, where Hiroaki Nakayama, Director, Managing Executive Officer and General Manager of Domestic Business Division, introduced Kadoya's sustainable initiatives to 10 invited "Sesame Labo" members. Mr. Hiroaki Nakayama, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Domestic Business Division, introduced Kadoya's sustainable initiatives to 10 invited "Goma to" members.

Prior to this event, "Sesame Lab" solicited ideas from members to "eat up vegetables without waste" from Friday, August 16 to Monday, September 30, 2024, and received many submissions from members.

At the event, a "vegetable x sesame" recipe was presented based on "ideas for eating up vegetables without wasting them" submitted by members to the "Sesame Lab" and co-created by Mao Nishioka, a vegetable chef who has been writing a series of "Karada toning recipes" for "Sesame Lab," with the aim of reducing food loss.

Based on "ideas for eating up vegetables without wasting them," submitted by "Sesame Lab" members, Mr. Nishioka co-created a recipe that combines surplus vegetables and discarded vegetable peels with sesame products to create a special dish.

At the end of the event, participants enjoyed goma to's new signature menu, "goma to Plate COURSE," in which all dishes were made with sesame products. The event ended with a friendly atmosphere from start to finish, with participants engaging in conversation around the table as well as with Mr. Nishioka and employees.
